Twice as Nice is a stylish, new, upscale furniture and home decor second-hand shop that recently opened in Tysons. Run by the non-profit group, Capital Caring, (previously known as Capital Hospice). The shop has wall art, antiques, modern furniture, and more for sale at reasonable prices. Capital Caring has helped hundreds of thousands of patients and family members since 1977 by supporting them with care navigation, counseling through serious illnesses, palliative care, and hospice services. Proceeds from Twice as Nice will help provide Capital Caring’s services to patients with advanced illness, regardless of their ability to pay. Crust Pizzeria Napoletana has a mission to serve authentic Napolitan Pizza certified by the “Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana” (VPN) cooked in a true Italian wood-fired oven. In addition to serving an authentic Napolitan Pizza,  Crust seeks to educate guests about their use of only fresh, all-natural, non-processed ingredients (imported from Naples or Campania regions), including Certified Mozzarella di Bufala. The wood-burning oven maintaining a temperature of 900 degrees and produces an authentic Napolitan pizza verified by VPN, in 60-90 seconds. Its characteristics include a thin center and charred puffy edges. Chef and Pizzaiolo, Tonio Topolino says, “We recommend eating it by hand, so save your fork for dessert.” The authentic Napolitan pizza was invented in Napoli between 1715 and 1725, with the world-famous Margherita variant first cooked in 1889. Requin, the upscale French-Mediterranean restaurant by TopChef darlings, Jennifer Carroll and Mike Isabella is now open. The restaurant has opened as a ‘pop-up’ in Fairfax’s Mosaic District before its permanent home at the Wharf development in Southwest D.C. opens in 2017.

Basillini Italian Café, Tasty food, in a simple casual setting with very reasonable prices and smaller sized portion options to prevent over-carbing (as low as $4.95). Polite staff and oriented to takeout.

Hayadi Salon opened in late December at 4530 John Marr Drive in Annandale by Owners Daphne and Zaid Bakeer. Hayadi, which means “gift”in Arabic specializes in organic and natural hair care. “We want to move away from a chemical experience,” Zaid says. Hayadi has a staff of professionals that offers haircuts, color, highlights, and styling for men and woman. Zaid Bakeer, is an award-winning master stylist, who met his wife Daphne at Jon David Salon in Springfield.

Dumpling Go started out as a food truck in Arlington and is planning to expand and open it’s first ‘brick-and-mortar’ restaurant. It serves chicken, shrimp, pork, and vegetarian dumplings. There is another New York restaurant called “Dumpling Go”, but it may not be the same concept. More updates soon!
