Makar Sankranti / Uttarayan is the Hindu festival dedicated to the Surya, the Sun God. In Gujarat, the festival is also known as the kite festival, as people of all backgrounds take to rooftops and fill the sky with colorful kites or patang. Kites for Uttarayan are made of special light-weight paper and bamboo and a single bow. The string is often coated with glass powder to make it easier to cut down other kites during the frequent kite fights that take place. In advance of Uttarayan, join us in a craft-making workshop where we’ll create a kite-inspired craft. Supplies needed will be sent to participants ahead of time.

In 1992, he won the Pulitzer Prize for his masterful Holocaust narrative Maus, which portrayed Jews as mice and Nazis as cats. Maus II continued the remarkable story of his parents’ survival of the Nazi regime and their lives later in America.

The Phlebotomist
1st Stage will bring the regional premiere of the hit show from London. In a sci-fi-inspired world where genomics is the norm, every person gets assigned a “rating” at birth based on their genetic map. Bea, a phlebotomist, finds herself being pulled deeper and deeper into the dark side of the genetic testing underworld even as she falls in love with Aaron, a man she met by accident who has a near-perfect rating that far exceeds her own.
