Cava Mezze Grill

Coming Soon

8048 Tysons Corner Center, K7AU, McLean, VA 22102

Cava Mezze Grill will be opening locations in McLean in late summer and in Sterling later this year, according to a Cava Mezze Grill spokesperson.

Started by three childhood friends in 2006: Ike Grigoropoulos, Chef Dimitri Moshovitis, and Ted Xenohristos, Cava Grill celebrates the flavors of traditional Greek and Mediterranean cooking in a casual modern setting.

Xenohristos and Grigoropoulos grew up working in restaurants and Moshovitis worked at some of DC’s finest restaurants, including Bistro Bis and Kinkeads, according to Cava Grill.

Cava Mezze Grill serves healthful food made from simple ingredients. The restaurant partners with local nonprofits, food producers and sustainable farms “to bring you good food that does good, too,” according to cavagrill.com.

Cava Grill also creates specialty dips made fresh daily in a production kitchen in Rockville, MD. Cava dips are delivered directly to markets across the East Coast and the Midwest, including at Whole Foods Markets.

Alta Strada

Local foodies (and Top Chef geeks) are rejoicing over some buzz about a new restaurant coming to the bustling Mosaic District.  Boston Chef Michael Schlow, who has already made his mark in the DC area with two new restaurants, Tico and The Riggsby, has plans to expand into our own backyard with Alta Strada, an Italian-focused eatery coming in 2016 to the Mosaic District. Alta Strada’s menu will feature Italian dishes, individual pizzas, as well as house-made pastas and a full antipasti menu.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the restaurant has filed for an alcoholic beverage license for a restaurant seating 101-150 people at 2911 District Ave. in Merrifield’s Mosaic District. The restaurant will be located in the same building at Matchbox and Ted’s Bulletin, across the street from Target, Cava Grill and Sweetgreen, among other retailers.
