Patriot Center Welcomes Sesame Street Favorites

For 45 years, Sesame Street has been delighting children of all ages with fun and educational broadcasts, and once the company began touring an interactive live show, it has been able to bring that magic to venues all over the world.

Expect “Sunny Days” ahead when Sesame Street Live “Make a New Friend” visits the Patriot Center from Friday, Dec. 12, through Sunday, Dec. 14. The show offers a fun-filled, interactive learning experience, including up-close and furry interactions on the audience floor.

This latest Sesame Street Live show will find favorites such as Elmo, Grover, Abby Cadabby and other popular Sesame Street regulars welcoming Chamki, Grover’s friend from India, to their home on Sesame Street. Together, they explore the universal fun of friendship and celebrate cultural similarities, from singing and dancing, to sharing cookies.

“Sesame Street is just timeless and a show like this is just so fun for children,” says Rachel Dresner, who understudies the role of Evie, the new purple anything monster muppet, who dances and sings along with the core favorites throughout the show.Rachel Dresner headshotimages

Make a New Friend” will feature songs as “Count Me In,” and fun parodies of “Hot and Cold” and “Moves Like Jagger.”

Dresner began performing with Sesame Street Live last year, but has been performing in live shows for years. Her credits include “Elmo and Abby’s Treasure Hunt” at SeaWorld; “Neverland on Ice” at the RDV Sportplex; and “Shove! Push!” a UCF Dance Concert.

She started figure skating and dance at the age of three and immediately fell in love with the rush of performing in front of a live audience. It’s a trait she shares with her sisters, as well.

“I’ve performed in a lot of ice skating shows opposite my older sister and have danced alongside my younger sister,” Dresner says. “I will always cherish those moments.”

Her favorite thing about this show is just seeing the smile on kids faces as they interact with the Sesame Street characters they all know and love.

“It’s so exciting for me to see these kids singing the songs they know and dancing along with us,” she says. “As an audience member I love when a show gets me out of my seat from excitement. As a performer, I strive to make that connection with each audience. I love making them feel happy.”

The show runs 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 12; 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13; and 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14. Tickets are $18 and $30.
