Supporting Preschool for Children At-Risk
Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, a nonprofit high-quality, preschool dedicated to giving young children from low- and moderate-income, working families the early education they need to start school ready to succeed, is seeking businesses interested in sponsoring their 7th Annual Teddy Bear 5K & 1K Walk/Run in September 2019.
The public event that attracts 250-300 runners of all ages from across the national capital area is slated for the morning of Sunday, September 29, near the Children’s Center, which is located between Falls Church City and Tysons Corner.
Proceeds from the race support the program that guides at least 50 young children each year to overcome delays that result from growing up in poverty and build their essential skills to levels expected of incoming kindergarteners. Children receive two healthy meals and two snacks each day, a full-day of engaging learning activities in classrooms and outdoors, and support services for those who need extra help.
