Bus stop repairs done, but other warranty projects are ongoing

Yes, there is still construction  work related to Phase 1 of the Silver Line happening in the Tysons area.

Some of the warranty work is being done by Bechtel, the contractor which operated as Dulles Transit Partners for the first phase, while the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, owner of the Silver Line project, is contracting for other work.

Along Routes 7 and 123

Bechtel crews in late summer were working on some underground pipe remediation along Route 7.

And, other crews completed concrete work at bus turnouts along Route 7 near the Spring Hill Metro Station and along Route 123 near the McLean Metro Station. This work had required the temporary relocation of several bus stops.

There also was work to be done on sidewalks, underdrains and driveway entrances to businesses to improve access for those with disabilities. Surveys needed for the work were to begin in August and most of the work is scheduled for completion in late October.

Storm water deficiencies continue and repairs are expected to be done this fall.

Ongoing repairs for Virginia Department of Transportation manholes and related structures will continue through November or early December.

Repairs for the drainage system in the median of the Chain Bridge Overpass for the rail line is pending.

Old Meadow Road

The rail project will also fund and execute improvements at the intersection of Old Meadow Road and Route 123 at the main entrance to Capital One because Old Meadow and the entrance are not precisely lined up.

The rail team has prepared a traffic analysis of different options to do this work and a previous plan to do a long-term closing of Old Meadow Road  has been nixed because of potential negative impacts on traffic flows in the Old Meadow Road and Colshire Drive area, and along Route 123.  Details of scheduling the work are still being worked out, including the impact of ongoing roadwork along Colshire on the work needed to improve the Old Meadow intersection. The rail project staff continues to work with nearby commercial redevelopments, residents of the nearby condo properties, and state and local officials. In addition, several major utilities will have to be relocated before this work can be done.
