Chef Michael Schlow to Bring Italian Eatery to Mosaic District

Local foodies (and Top Chef geeks) are celebrating about some buzz about a new restaurants coming to the bustling Mosaic District.  Boston Chef Michael Schlow, who has already made his mark in the DC area with two new restaurants Tico and The Riggsby, has plans to expand into our own backyard with Alta Strada, an Italian-focused eatery coming in 2106 in the Mosaic District. Alta Strada’s menu will feature Italian dishes, individual pizzas, as well as house-made pastas and a full antipasti menu.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the restaurant named Alta Strada — of which Schlow owns two in New England — has filed for an alcoholic beverage license for a restaurant seating 101-150 people at 2911 District Ave. in Merrifield’s Mosaic District. The restaurant will be located at 2911 District Ave., in the same building at Matchbox and Ted’s Bulletin, across the street from Target, Cava Grill and Sweetgreen, among other retailers.
